Because, duh, they're there. "The Great Ant Mountain" is actually only 7-1/4" tall x 7" wide x 2-3/4" deep, which is really sort of a lesser mountain, but you can't put a real mountain on your desk. All you add to this one is ants and dirt (through the little ventilated flip-top) and then sit back and watch them scale their own little Everest. Comes with a swizzle-stickish "reaching tool" to help clean and maintain the mountain.
